PROJECT 2:

WEST FOURTH STREET SAFETY

Construction begins February 23. 
Project completion expected in November 2026.

Project Scope

The West Fourth Street Safety Project will reconstruct the roadway and introduce new safety and mobility features along the corridor. Planned improvements include:

 

  • Roadway Reconstruction

    • Complete rebuilding of the roadway for long-term durability and safety

  • Intersection Upgrades

    • New roundabouts at Stoker Avenue and Summit Ridge

  • Multi-Use Paths

    • South side: continuous path from Vine Street to Stoker Avenue

    • North side: continuous path from Vine Street to McCarran Boulevard

  • Lane Reductions

    • Streamlined roadway with fewer lanes from Edwards Way to McCarran Boulevard to improve safety and calm traffic
       

​These improvements will create a safer, more connected corridor for drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians while modernizing West Fourth Street for the future.

Project Schedule

Project Award

Awarded to  Sierra Nevada Construction

February - April

  • Work occurring intermittently on west side of roadway between Summit Ridge Dr and Keystone Ave. Majority of work occurring between McCarran Blvd and Summit Ridge

Working Hours

  • Normal working hours are Monday – Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Traffic Control

  • Traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction with lane shifts. Some flagger control can be expected as well as limited driveway accesses.

  • Traffic will be one-way between McCarran Blvd and Summit Ridge Dr. Detours will be provided:

    • Westbound only: March – April

    • Eastbound only: July – August

  • Marathon weekend work with full roadway closures are possible. Advanced notice will be given.

  • Speed through the work zone will be reduced to 30 MPH.

  • Pedestrian access will be maintained.

  • Drivers should expect minor delays through the corridor.

  • Drive with caution and obey construction signs
